基于“还原论”的研究思路,长期致力于关键生命过程和合成生物学的研究,聚焦在代谢通路、能量摄取、调控网络等领域,研究生物结构的多样性潜力和进化可能性。相关论文发表在Science,Nature Biotechnology,Nature Microbiology等。有些研究成果已经改写并被收录世界经典教科书。
目前采用“重构论”的思路进行生物学研究,从而突破“还原论”研究思路的局限。侧重在优良蛋白质元件的计算机辅助从头理性设计、自动化平台赋能的高通量表征、连续定向进化系统辅助的快速精准优化等,实现蛋白质元件序列-结构-功能映射的建立;以及将这些设计和改造后的元件有机耦合基因线路和调控网络,从头搭建能自我复制的生命系统,从而实现对生命结构的重构理解和认知,并有效地应用于疾病诊断和治疗等领域。
